Check out our new merch line! "Lead Strong, Train Well"
We are located in Greeley, CO. We currently do not have a facility, and do private lessons either in the comfort of your home or in Greeley West Park.
Balanced dog training is a training methodology that utilizes all 4 quadrants of Operant Conditioning. This means we teach our dogs markers for when they are doing desirable and undesirable behaviors, and we use a variety of tools or verbal communication to aid them in getting closer to the end goal. In our "toolbox" we commonly use treats or toys in conjunction with leashes and flat collars or a variety of corrective collars such as martingale collars, prong collars, and e-collars. We recognize that every dog is different and will alter our training plan or training tools as needed to best suit you and your companion.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about our training methodologies or tool use we invite you to contact us to chat and learn!
Here at Eisern K9s, we believe in using tools that will work best for your dog and teaching you how to use them correctly and safely just as with any other tool. For some dogs that is treats and a slip leash, others might need treats and a prong collar, or other dogs may thrive more with toy rewards and an E-Collar, or even just treat and verbal corrections. We will always be upfront with you about your individual dog's needs.
Yes, we offer multiple options for both dog and human-aggressive dogs, resource guarders and more. You can find these options on our Behavior Modification page.
This varies depending on a few things such as, what training program you choose, how much time and work you are willing to put in at home, and if you hold your dog accountable for what you have done.
If you sign up for our 60-Day Board & Train Program your dog will return with advanced off-leash obedience, which will only need a few tune-ups throughout their life if the training is kept up at home. Where if you go the weekly Obedience Course route you can expect training to take about a year before your dog is considered fully obedience trained.Â
We do not allow visitations during standard Board & Trains. Dogs can take a few days to a week to fully settle in and be able to learn. Visits from owners can set a dog back and cause issues with consistency in their training while with us. You will receive pictures and videos of your pup during their stay!
During long-term Board & Trains (3 months or longer) for service dog clients, training meetups are required at least once a month.
Yes, if you are taking private or group courses you must be present. These courses are designed where the owner learns what to work on during class and then works with their dog throughout the week on homework so that they are prepared for the next week. Stay tuned for virtual lesson plans!
Yes, your dog is required to be up to date with their vaccines, and you must be able to provide proof of vaccines if asked. All Board & Train clients will be required to provide proof of vaccines.
