Family Dog Center

Here at Eisern K9 our Family Dog courses are designed to prepare your dog for real-world scenarios and to teach you and your family how to best communicate with your companion. As you complete each course you and your dog will take the corresponding AKC Canine Good Citizen test. If your dog is AKC registered this can be applied as a title, and for dogs who are not AKC registered you may apply for the certificate if desired. You and your dog must pass each test to advance to the next level of courses.

All courses may be taken in group or private classes. Depending on availability we may not be able to get everyone in private or fit everyone into group lessons. When signing up for classes your intake form will automatically be sent to our waiting list where we will contact you as soon as possible to schedule you. For those on our waitlist, you can expect to be contacted within three (3) business days. These courses are not for dogs with major behavioral issues. S.T.A.R. Puppy

Our AKC STAR puppy program is for puppies 12 weeks to 9 months old. The STAR Puppy program has been designed by the AKC to teach owners of young puppies the importance of Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility while raising their dog. It is intended to teach young puppies basic skills and manners to set them up for success for the rest of their life. Our STAR puppy course is the prerequisite for any of our other courses if your puppy is younger than 9 months old.

You and your dog will learn the following commands and skills in this course:

Sit with a food lure
Down with food lure
Come when called
Handling Skills
Potty training skills
Leash walking basics
Safe socialization

Good Citizen

Our Good Citizen course is designed for dogs over 9 months old, or those who have completed our S.T.A.R. Puppy course. At the end of this course, you and your pup will take the Canine Good Citizen test for the chance to earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen title.

You and your dog will learn the following commands and skills in this course:

Sit
Down
Stay
Loose-lead walking
Ignoring other dogs
& more!

Advanced Citizen

Our Advanced Citizen course is designed for dogs over who have previously completed our Good Citizen course and passed their AKC Canine Good Citizen title with us or another training facility. At the end of this course, you and your pup will take the Advanced Canine Good Citizen (aka Community Canine) test for the chance to earn the AKC Community Canine title.

You and your dog will learn the following commands and skills in this course:

Settling in a public area
Loose-lead walking in a busy area (ignoring people & dogs)
Sit-stay in small group (3 or more dogs)
Leave it
Distance stays
Recall around distractions
Controlled entrances through thresholds
& more!

Urban Citizen

Our Urban Citizen course is designed for those who have previously completed our Advanced Citizen course or earned their AKC Community Canine title with us or at another training facility. At the end of this course, you and your pup will take the Urban Canine Good Citizen test for the chance to earn the CGCU title.

You and your dog will learn the following commands and skills in this course:

Walk through a crowd on a busy urban sidewalk
Controlled entrances & exits from pet-friendly buildings
Appropriate reactions to city distractions
How to safely navigate busy streets
Ignore food on the sidewalk
Stair and elevator safety
Car safety
& more!

Family Dog Adventures

Trick Dog

This course will help you prepare for your AKC Novice Trick Dog (TKN), AKC Intermediate Trick Dog (TKI), and AKC Advanced Trick Dog (TKA) titles. You will be able to choose 10 items from the list of approved tricks for each level. The evaluation for each title is included in the price of the class.

Trail Dog

There is nothing better than exploring the beautiful Colorado trails with a well-mannered pup. This course will help you develop the skills needed to hike safely with a dog that responds reliably to commands when on and off-leash in the Great Outdoors. Your pup is required to have their Canine Good Citizen before enrolling in this class. For off-leash training, E-collars can be purchased through us with our Unleashed course, or with private lessons.

Pub Dog

Want to take your dog on outings to pet-friendly pubs and patios? This course will prepare you and your dog for busy environments full of food, drinks, and other pups. Your dog will learn how to settle and hang out while ignoring distractions such as dropped food, strangers, and unknown dogs. Your dog is required to have their AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen before participating in this course.
